The rooms

Nine rooms

Each doorway opens on one series, hung together.

The painter

Ines Roussel

Ines Roussel in her studio at night

I paint at the kitchen table after the dishes are done, one small panel an evening, from the window or from a walk down to the port. Gouache dries in minutes, so a nocturne has to be decided before the light in it goes. The panels hang here in nine rooms, the way a salon hangs them: close, and many.

  • Gouache on toned paper
  • 18 x 24 cm at most
  • Marseille, since 2015
  • One panel an evening
